New Display Server coming out for Linux

(1/1)

cheiron:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayland_(display_server_protocol)  is the link for the information.. but the low-down is that it looks like a replacement for the x-window system

could be quite interesting...

shadow:
It sound promising for Gnome + Enlightenment who can run it now.. KDE i read is planning for it  but for people like xfce, mate, cinnamon, unity, awesome, i3,  fluxbox, pekwm, openbox  there is little being said about any development for it..

I guess XOrg will be around for many years after anyway and someone will keep it going...

Mike:
Should this still be a sticky? Looks like Ubuntu will be going with Mir.

blaze:
^A very valid point.
