wattOS R10 32 bit
« on: September 08, 2016, 01:13:10 PM »
I have tried to get wattOS R10 32 bit to connect to Wi-Fi with absolutely no luck. It repeatedly opens the enter Wi-Fi password window. Has anyone else tried with 32 bit?

It works fine for me leenie.

That's what I experienced when I tried R8 recently though. It fixed itself after updates installed.

Uh oh...I just ran the Software Updater, and I see that there's an update for Network Connections.

Leenie, are you still having issues? Did you install that update for Network Connections AND THEN the problem started...or...did the update for Network Connections fix your issue?

I'm scared to let it install the update!  ;D

I think I'll install wicd first, then try the update to see what happens...at least I'll have wicd as a fall back if needed.

Installed the Network Connection(s) update...everything was fine afterward. Rebooted the computer for the real test, and everything was fine. Sorry you're having trouble leenie. I'm not sure what it could be.

The wireless connection is necessary for live cd to install system. My wifi is seen but will not connect after entering passcode.

Oh...I'm sorry. I thought you were having trouble post-install.

I tested 32bit livecd on an old laptop and wireless worked. Sometimes if the signal is not great I've been prompted to enter it again, or reboot and move closer to the wifi source. But I tested two 32bit laptops and both worked on liveCD and after install on it... :(

Hey Leenie...fyi..I did an install without wifi also and that worked...did you try to push through a non-connected install?

Live CD copied to USB drive
worked on a 32-bit desktop with USB WiFi dongle
also worked after installing on the internal drive
and worked after reboot

Does it work with WattOS R9?
Has WiFi worked with any other distro?

In terminal what is displayed by:

lspci | grep -i netw
--or--
lspci | grep -i wireless

should be something like:

03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN [Kedron]Network Connection (rev 61)

Perhaps there is something in this myriad of commands that might help too?

Thank you Biff. I never had a problem getting wifi signal 20 ft away. I borrowed my husband's shed usb cord for usb dongle and changing the position (same distance) made all the difference!
