problem when installing wattos
« on: July 26, 2015, 11:18:29 AM »
Hello!
Some time ago, I had succeeded installing wattos and I worked quite nicely for some time.
Yesterday I wanted to install it again on the same computer (same HDD) but towards the end of the installation, the installation fails (I can't remember the message, something like "the installation failed") .

It happened after i got the following messages :

grub-install
update grub
check packets to remove

Do you have a clue about what is happening? Can I in anyway use wattos even if i get this message (via boot-repair or something else)?

Thanks in advance for your answers
domi
PS I'm french, sorry for my bad english

Welcome to the forum. You did not say which version of wattOS you installed. You may have to format the drive before reinstalling. I have seen boot repair work, be sure and get the version for your wattOS- 32 or 64 bit. I'll be checking back to help.

What kind of install are you using? Are you burning to a cd or using usb install? Did you check the md5 sums? During installation, are you checking the box on the "installation type" page to "Erase disk and install wattOS"? What kind of computer, how much ram, processor speed, and do you have a graphics card?

Hello!!!
I had exactly the same problem. The graphical installation failed in the same time and with the same error messages.
I'm trying to install 32-bit WatOS R9 in the following machine (Netbook):
Samsung NP-NC110, AtomN2600, 2GB RAM, 1HDD
Disk /dev/sda (320GB) is partitioned:
/dev/sda1 -> NTFS, 32GB -> Windows 7 installed
/dev/sda2 -> ext4, 16GB -> Linux Madbox (Ubuntu Openbox Flavor) installed
/dev/sda3 -> ext4, 16GB <- Here I want to install wattOS
/dev/sda4 -> EXTENDED
/dev/sda5 -> ext4, ~2XXGB -> My files partition
/dev/sda6 -> NTFS, 16GB -> Windows Data garbage
/dev/sda7 -> Linux Swap, ~2GB -> Swap

Installer was placed in an USB thumb drive with UNetbootin ver 613. This was done in Windows, and the md5sum was checked OK with WinMD5Free.
