I'd like to suggest that other options be considered for chat. The main reason being that the Rocket Chat application for Linux eats up about 400 MB of memory while running since it's basically running a standalone browser. Without the application, one would need to keep their web browser open to stay logged in which I see nobody does. This may not be the expected experience for new users looking for immediate support or users with limited resources which is one of WattOS's goals. While open-source, another downside to Rocket Chat is that if the server ever shuts down then we lose the history.
Other options include the tried and true IRC or any application that handles the XMPP protocol. Many Linux messenger app (e.g. Pidgin & Empathy) support this.
Does anybody have any opinons regarding this? Ultimately, it's what's works best for everyone, but hopefully the best solution is the one that better aligns with the project's goals of being nimble. Hopefully another goal could include being self-sustaining in that if Biff or any admin gets hit by a metaphorical bus, it's not difficult for the team to quickly pick up the torch and carry on.
