One of the main differences here is that Viper is an executable appimage browser.. it does not install like firefox, chrome, falkon etc.. so outside of a few random folders it keeps your pc clean :)

Funny you should mention that. Yeah, I knew it was and appimage. I got to thinking about where it saves the data and did a quick bit of searching. There must be a profile folder somewhere. Or is there?

I'm on my regular laptop running Mint 20.2 right now, but earlier this afternoon I did a whole bunch of random surfing on the experimental laptop with R10. I've had to change a couple of settings, but I can see that unless I run onto some weird problem between Viper and some website I visit, I could get to like Viper. Like the old pea brain I am, I didn't check Task Manager to see what the resource usage was. I guess I can do that tomorrow.

Stunning... simply put!

That is a beautiful set of photos and post edit work :)  Me, personally... I go a lot more simplistic.. direct from camera.. I will take a 100 shots.. and pick the 1 single one that was right for me.. rather than a couple, touch up in post and then post lol

Like this one.. crop sensor camera.. Sony A6400, which is a 24.2MP mid range mirrorless. Lens on this was the Sigma 56mm F1.4 DC DN (aps-c lens). Shot handheld, no support, no OSS, no IBIS or other steady aids. Photo was shot f/1.4, ISO-100 and a 1/4000s shutter. Sun was at 7 o clock to my standing position and around 30mins before sunset. No post editing, clean up or anything has been done here.

General Discussion / A sampling of my photo art

cheiron, here are just a few of my prints. I start with a photo, then apply various techniques in GIMP to arrive at the final product. The first photo is titled, "Fairbanks Feed Mill" I sold several copies of it and it won me a dozen or more first place awards at shows in my area. Then the second one is titled, "Just Sittin'". It won quite a few awards and I think it sold just about as many copies as Fairbanks Feed Mill. Then the third photo is a sample of partial color splash. Took me a while, but I like the final product.

I have the Falkon website bookmarked. I'm going to spend some time paying with Viper before I download and install anything else. I need to tweak the settings in a browser to suit me, then use it for daily web surfing for a while before I know if it is going to be something I like or not. My initial opinion of Viper is that it might very well be a browser I can use daily. It imported my bookmarks from Firefox 98.0.2 with no problems. I also have the ad blocker all set up. I haven't yet had Task Manager opened while I have Viper in use. I need to see the difference in resource usage between Firefox and Viper. I know that Firefox eats right at 7% to 9% of my available memory to run. In my opinion, that's too much for running just a web browser.

Thanks for the tip on Falkon!

Ahh. Yep. You're 100% correct. When I get a few of my photos posted on my Fotki page I'll set that new thread up.

Thanks.

you're welcome smhardesty :)

I wasnt sure if you had got it or not hence why i did the video installation for you and just went through a few settings to show it.

The other browser i use is Falkon .. its kde so expect it to come in at around 200mb install... falkon itself is only 3mb.

If you are interested..

Code: [Select]
open terminal
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y falkon
Now this one takes a bit of getting used to on the setting up.. but it's a nice quick light browser.

If you want any further help with anything... let us know and i may do a video walkthrough to help, cause i like doing that stuff lmao

Link to Viper download: https://g.srev.in/get-appimage/viper_browser/

Not sure why, but that link also didn't include a download link for me. I did a search and found a download link on github. I have Viper now and have opened it once. I see in the preferences for Viper that it is a LOT like Firefox. At least close enough for me to at least want to try playing around with.

Thanks to both of you guys for pointing me in the direction of Viper!

Many thanks smhardesty :) I am an Amateur photographer so have been working with my images to incorporate when into my Beta to see what a different angle on wallpaper / themes look like.. I am still tweaking things .. but my custom moon-theme is coming along.. as well as some others i am playing with :)

We have more than one thing in common then. I am (was) what they call a serious amateur photographer. I have had a few shows and over the years sold quite a few of my prints. I say "was" because I have had to stop due to health issues. I shot antique trucks, cars, and tractors as well as old barns. My truck/car/tractor photos were of old, rusty, non-running vehicles. My subject material required me to do some walking and sometimes I had to walk over rough, broken ground. I have a heart condition that causes me to pass out if I get hot or over exert myself. So much for my photography. Lots of people have tried to convince me to turn to other forms of photography like still life, wedding photos, portraits, etc, etc, but none of those things are the least bit interesting to me. I would be miserable doing wedding photos or still life. So, I haven't taken a photo in about 6 or 7 years. I'll show you some of my work sometime and I'd love to see some of yours.
