Title: Moving to WattOS R8 LXDE 64bit
Post by: James McCoy on October 24, 2014, 10:14:41 PM
Hello! I am here in Indiana/USA. I'm new to WattOS. I have a HP G60-535DX laptop and Acer Aspire One D250 netbook. I use Zorin 8 (Ubuntu 13.10 64bit) - but fed up with Ubuntu error messages and memory hunger. I am backing up everything and plan a clean install with WattOS R8 LXDE 64bit... now that it's based on Debian - it is said to be more stable than when it was based on Ubuntu.

I love a OS being light on CPU and RAM usage... leaving more leftover for use by big apps like LibreOffice or GIMP!

My concern however... is I heard that Debian can be "fussy" or "less forgiving" working some hardware like WiFi adapters or network cards. It makes me a tad worried about installing WattOS R8 on the Acer!

Any tips, ideas, suggestions - etc. - please?!

Hi James McCoy,
You will find that wattOS already has most of the wifi drivers installed. Otherwise just be directly connected and make sure to get your wireless driver after install.
