wattOS R8 / Give root password for maintenance message
« on: July 16, 2014, 09:31:13 PM »
Just a little tip for you folks on the debian release of wattos..

I know some of you like playing in terminal and stuffs.. but please do not use the command "shutdown now" to turn off the pc... it does not work on debian and will drop it to maintenance mode (press control -d to continue) ...

you need to issue the correct command of "shutdown -h now" instead.. the -h denotes "halt"

just incase you folks have been getting this message  ;)

wattOS R8 / Bug on Microwatt R8
« on: May 17, 2014, 04:48:15 PM »
Microwatt R8 does have another bug that i could do with a bit of a help addressing..

When you add a program through installation.. it doesnt automatically add it to the menu (right click on the desktop).. you have to manually add it through QUI which is a pain in the ass unless you go into all programs and see them there..

fix please ??

wattOS R8 / WattOS R8 and ChromeBook
« on: May 17, 2014, 04:45:21 PM »
I had a visitation on my IRC Server yesterday from a couple users who had just installed R8 and one of them raised an interesting query.

Turns out they have a Google Chromebook and wanted to know if they could run wattos on it via Crouton...

So dived off into termival to rattle off a few commands and here are the results for modinfo and a resounding "Y" in the intree :)

R8 does contain i2c_dev, i2c_i801, cyapa and chromeos_laptop

So it looks hopeful for dual booters with a Chromebook :)
