I run Microwatt on an old AMD single core 512ram system with a SSD and it's nice and fast.
All hail WattOS.

I tried this too, took a while to install on the USB but once it was done, awesome. Microwatt has saved me a few times being portable. :)

Palemoon 64bit still seems for me, the best lightweight browser I have used.
SlimJet was OK but the annoying pop-ups and stuff telling me to support them and donate, no, thanks.

WattOS LXDE with Microwatt i3-wm. 64bit. 120GB SSD, 2TB HDD, i3 6100, 8GB DDR4 2133MHZ RAM. this pc is my superpowered WattOS main PC.
Looking to buy a GTX 1060 soon, too. not 100% on the graphics card though.

Nice one, Mike.

I wanted LXDE but I alslo wanted Biff's i3 config, so I installed WattOS 64bit LXDE, installed i3-wm, i3status, i3lock dmenu and i3blocks. booted the live Microwatt CD in a VM and copied over the i3 config and all was done. :)

Thanks for the info on Slimjet, using it right now.

I was using Palemoon which is a fork of Firefox. I only used it because it was light and could use a proxy.
Seems slimjet is faster and can use a proxy too!

Double nice, thank you.

Please check the first page:

The default icon set in Microwatt "Delta" is an old ICON set and not fully complete, so you may seem some strangeness with it as root and as sudo in some apps, but its very lightweight, and its presumed most will change to what they want. (more details on that tomorrow)

Try this:

sudo -i
login as root

dd bs=8M if=/yourwattosdir of=/dev/yourusb && sync

Try it and let us know.

How are you creating the bootable USB?

Windows = USBWriter.
Linux = dd bs=8M if=/your/dir of=/dev/yourusb (run as root && sync

ain't failed me yet.

wattOS R10 / R10 Microwatt OS - Best Linux distro of 2016?
« on: September 25, 2016, 12:01:56 AM »
What you think? for me, HELL YES.

LXDE was amazingly fast. not too bloated and you could tweak the hell out of it.
Then came Microwatt. WOW, need I say more?

I have tried a lot of distros, including a self built arch install, Manjaro, Lubuntu etc.

None of them can compete with WattOS - Microwatt R10 has made my usage of Linux a pretty much 24/7 thing!

Thank you, biff.
