Hi Biff!

Thank you for your reply on this one, I really appreciate it and I would just like to add that I have been using wattOS on other machines and I really really like it! So yeah, big thank you for your efforts and for making a great (lean!) product.

All of this is certainly out of my depth but if understand currently:

- cdv-gfx-drivers-1.0.3  only works with kernels <3.1
( https://communities.intel.com/thread/38972?start=30&tstart=0 )

- there are experimental git efforts to port it but it seems to only work up to kernel 3.9
(https://github.com/thomas001/cedarview-drm/issues)

- x server will only work with modesetting but won't support accelerated 2d
(https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Intel_GMA3600#Cedarview-drm_module_port)

- a few people made reference to step-by-step instructions on installing the drivers on debian (as a patch?) but it seems to point to a 404 pdf document from Intel's servers
( https://communities.intel.com/thread/29157?start=165&tstart=0 )

It looks like like Imagination Technologies wants to lock this (4yr old!) gfx card's IP in a vault and !ntel sees the cedar trail as old dead wood (pun intended?).

>> Honest question:
Should I try: option a) venture in trying to make this driver work? option b) scavenge for a pcie gfx card that is supported right off the bat?

For background:
I wanted to use this board because I already had it from an old win xp desktop and from spec it happens to have really tolerant power management.
Effectively I want to hook it to a battery and use it as cheap field-test "not quite hard-real-time embedded" rig  for computer vision experiments (GTK + openCV). So 2d&3d acceleration is needed for it to have acceptable latency otherwise I am probably better off sourcing another target for these field trials.
-----------------------------------------------

As always, any advice/suggestions/ideas are welcome, from Biff, or all the other users.

I look forward to hearing from you guys

Thank you once again in advance.

Hey everyone,

I just brought a DN2800mt back to life, only to realize that there doesn't seem to be 2d/3d acceleration support for it.

to summarise:
- R8 32bit LXDE is running and everything is OK.  :)
- X11 is OK to boot with graphical interface, but Xrandr shows a 'default'  value with no hardware info.
- HDMI is OK to auto-detect.
- VGA output is OK but with the 'default' resolution irrespective of resolution of the plugged monitor.
- Video acceleration is (expectedly?) NOK, video up to 320p is playable but with CPU at 100%.
- The machine is an Intel Desktop board DN2800mt (Cedarview), NM10 Chipset, with GMA 3560 on-board graphics (rebrand of  PowerVR SGX 545)

I read through posts on forum for other distros and essentially there doesn't seem to be any consensus if this has or hasn't got a solution.

Any thoughts, advice, solutions?

Thank you in advance!
