Title: WattOS R8 and ChromeBook
Post by: cheiron on May 17, 2014, 04:45:21 PM
I had a visitation on my IRC Server yesterday from a couple users who had just installed R8 and one of them raised an interesting query.

Turns out they have a Google Chromebook and wanted to know if they could run wattos on it via Crouton...

So dived off into termival to rattle off a few commands and here are the results for modinfo and a resounding "Y" in the intree :)

R8 does contain i2c_dev, i2c_i801, cyapa and chromeos_laptop

So it looks hopeful for dual booters with a Chromebook :)

Conventional wattOS does not work in Chromebook.

wattOS supports classic PC processor "x86",
The processor of Chromebook is "ARM".
(ARM is adopted in RaspberryPi, Android and iOS)

But the correspondence to Chromebook is enabled because wattOS became the Debian base.

Not "ALL" Chromebooks are of "ARM" type Balloon ..

Google Pixel for example use Core i5 intel
Acers, HP and Dells .. some of theirs use the standard intel Celeron

its the earlier and cheaper models that run ARM (plus samsung)

So yes WattOS will run on the intel chromebooks via Crouton
