Happy 2016 - The slumber has ended and new activity is here!

- The first thing to let you know is that there will be some public test versions for a few brave souls to try out. Those will be coming in the near future. (first Alpha planned in early Feb)...The alpha and subsequent beta are not for general consumption, but we will welcome volunteers and will share private download links to those who participate.

- The second thing to be clear for some that are new. wattOS R10 will be based on ubuntu 16.04 just in case you wonder :)
- Desktops, apps, and details still TBD for R10, but will still follow the notion of a simple, lightweight desktop that provides you a clean "out of your way" experience.

We will do a better job of marketing and communicating in 2016 and getting a more active community and information out for wattOS...Why you ask? Well besides being a new year, I think we need to do a better job of engagement and getting the word out. We have been around now for 8 years and I still use wattOS as my primary desktop and many who use wattOS tell us that they love it. So why not do a better job of sharing the love and help people learn about Linux and options that they have. :) - Also stop throwing away old computers!

- So in the near future I will be asking for some folks to help with initiatives like Reddit, Twitter, the wiki, etc. Plan on giving away some merch and generally having more fun :)
- So think about what you like to do, if you have a particular area you can help (or if you want to) and let me know via a DM.

More news and info to follow! Thanks all for all the support over the years, I hope that R10 and 2016 will be our best ever.

biff

I am here to help. You aren't going to use LXQT, are you? There is still talk of Lubuntu 16.04 using LXQT...

No LXQT.... :)

LXDE GTK2 or some alternative if required. The 16.04 alpha is GTK2 LXDE that I have been testing so far.

I have been testing 16.04 from the start and it's still very early yet.

I'm still waiting for some sort of fix for the VPN as it leaks like a spaghetti strainer.

If time permits, I maybe able to help in some of the testing.

Count me in if you want testers.

Would love to test it both 32bit and 64bit.  Have both types around the house that I would like to bring back to life or spruce up.

I have been using a tweaked version of Watt 9 since it came out - a solid and reliable system.  I'd help test as I just got a new laptop to play with...
