wattOS R10 / Re: Able to mute sound but not unmute sound
« on: October 14, 2016, 02:44:53 PM »
This is ANOTHER KNOWN issue with R10-Microwatt. I can mute the sound just fine, when I click the volume icon in i3's status so it's not muted > pavucontrol shows that it's still muted and the i3status shows it's not muted.
Just a bug, no biggie.

Or if you're using dual monitors, remove the "exec feh" and add:

exec --no-startup-id nitrogen --restore

Of course, after adding screen 1,2,3 etc with nitrogen then adding it to the config of i3. :)

Still haven't decided on whether to go full install with Microwatt or not.

One thing occurred to me...in a sense, i3 is inherently a bit more secure than other systems. An average computer user wouldn't have a clue what to do if they sat down at an i3 computer to try and use it.  ;D

Just for fun, I think I'll sit my wife and daughter down in front of it just to see their reactions.

Sounds like a great idea, do it and record it. ;)

I love how simple i3 is to work, yeah, you have to figure it out etc but windows key + b = web browsing. I can quick shortcut kodi and all my other apps. it's just awesome!

Mike, does that only work through (or with) OpenVPN and the Network Manager applet? I'm asking, because I use Wicd for wireless on one machine, and I've never tried a VPN with it.

Absolutely. Network Manager and Wicd are just front-ends to the underlying Linux networking programs and the kernel for managing your hardware. The VPN creates a secure tunnel at that level.

How can I turn them off? Also, Palemoon is a firefox fork. nice, lightweight and quite known. I use it all the time. I liked slimjet but the pop ups drove me mad. :)

Alright you two...you need to stop it with the microwatt worship. You're making it hard for me to resist installing it.  ;D

Try it and I assure you, you will love it.

Simple windows key + k = kodi, etc etc. you get the idea. it's amazing! lightweight and fast. what more could we want??

Will WattOS be moving over to LXQT or will you still be supporting LXDE?
I'm curious. :)

Microwatt will beat Arch's i3 hands down. I've done various tests and stuff like booting time and app loading times differ, a lot.
Can't say I've tested the battery's out though because I don't have a laptop I could use.

Lubuntu will be changing over to LXQT when 16.10 will be released, worth it? dunno, you tell me.

WattOS doesn't come with all the crap Lubuntu does, so WattOS will be lighter on resources.
