wattOS R9 / [SOLVED] Scan application ?
« on: December 16, 2015, 11:11:53 PM »
Hello guys,
I installed Xsane  and gscan2pdf  but none of them worked ... just the following message

"No scanning device found "

But It finds the printer and I can print without any problems ( HP all in one Photosmart C4580 )

I run the laptop with dualboot ( WattOS R9  and Mint 17.1)
When it runs on Mint   scanning a document or photo is a OK  with the already installed application came with the distro

Am I supposed to do any adjustments ?

Thanks in advance for your kind attention
Nikolaus

Introductions / Hello guys

Hello everybody , greetings from Athens
My name is Nikolaus
I tried the live CD of R9 and I was surprised by the results .

I am working with old hardware (in my free time) and I am looking for light distros to revive weak machines about 10 or more years old in some occasions (mainly laptops) . I refurbish these PC's and then I give them to people who can't afford to buy one .

WattOS really rocks !!!

Here are the specs of an old laptop of mine that WattOS gave new life to it.

WattOS  R9 LXDE
HP NC6000
CPU: Intel Pentium M  1,6 GHz , 2MB L2 Cache
Ram: 768 MB
HDD: 40 GB

Everything's running more than fine : Office work , web surfing, audio-video streaming (Utube, sportlemon etc.)
I am not asking for anything more from this machine .

I installed the same distro at my little daughter's laptop (the same model but with a weaker CPU at 1,5GHz- 1MB L2 cache ) with the same results

wattOS R9 / [SOLVED]I can't install R9 32bit
« on: November 28, 2015, 09:26:09 PM »
Hello everybody ,
I downloaded WattOS R9  LXDE  from direct download (not torrent )and tried the live USB in my old laptop with the following specs

HP NC6000
CPU Pentium M 1,5 GHz
Ram 1GB
HDD 40 GB

During the trial with live USB everything works more than fine, web surfing - audio - video -wireless etc , and I liked very much the fine working
so I decided to install the OS into the HDD.

I started the installer and close to  the end of the whole proccedure of the installation the installer just crashed

Any ideas ?

Edit : I did installed the WattOS  but in English language only.
I was trying to install it in Greek but I had the problem I described above
Now I have to install the Greek locales manually
